It is still quite portable, though, so it's not going to take up too much valuable space in your setup. The lack of a built-in speaker also hampers its portability, so this is a synth that is going to stay in your studio instead of your backpack. One slight disappointment of the CMS is that it is too power-hungry to run on either USB or batteries, which means it is tied to an AC adapter. However, the CMS is a little larger and thicker than the Circuit thanks to the addition of the synth control section in the top half. Some of the pads are now tied to different functions, but anyone familiar with the Circuit should feel right at home with the CMS. In terms of design, the Circuit Mono Station shares a lot of similarities with the original Circuit when looking at the bottom panel. It's a match made in heaven and the Circuit Mono Station is not just great on its own, but also perfect for using as part of a larger synth setup. Novation released their Circuit Mono Station in 2017 and, as the name suggests, it is essential the result of mashing together their Bass Station II with their Circuit sequencer.
